New Poll Shows Congressman Scott Perry is Very Unpopular with PA-10 Voters and Is Vulnerable in 2024 Election
Just 34% of voters in PA-10 approve of Scott Perry, who leads a generic Democrat by just two points
HARRISBURG, PA - Scott Perry is unpopular and at risk of losing re-election, according to a new poll of Pennsylvania’s 10th Congressional District. The poll of 587 registered voters was conducted on October 21st and 22nd by Public Policy Polling, an A-rated pollster, and released by WelcomePAC. Among the key findings:
Perry is unpopular and at risk of losing re-election
· Just 34 percent approve of Scott Perry’s job performance; 49 percent disapprove
· Perry holds just a 2 point lead (46 to 44 percent) against a generic Democratic candidate
Republicans in Congress unpopular, voters recall voting for both parties in this swing district
· 69 percent disapprove of the job Republicans in Congress are doing
· Voters recalled supporting Trump over Biden by 4 points, but Democrat Josh Shapiro over Republican Doug Mastriano by 11 points in 2022
Surprisingly, voters perceive Perry as being more moderate than Republicans in Congress
· 45 percent of voters believe “Republicans in Congress overall” are too conservative, but just 38 percent think Scott Perry is too conservative
· Voters are also far more likely to believe that Scott Perry is “just about right (35 percent) than to think the same of “Republicans in Congress overall” (24 percent)
While Perry is known nationally for his leadership of the ultra-conservative House Freedom Caucus, Democratic candidates have significant room to inform the many swing voters in PA-10 of Perry’s extremism.
Liam Kerr, co-founder of WelcomePAC, said: “We scoured the country for the most vulnerable extremist, and the unlucky winner is Scott Perry. Voters in PA-10 are lukewarm on Perry, and will swing hard against him once fully informed of the damage he causes.”
Craig Snyder, who is leading the Republicans Against Perry campaign, said: “Moderate Republicans who know Scott Perry know he’s more like Doug Mastriano than Ronald Reagan. We just need to inform swing voters of the facts, and Perry will go the way of Mastriano.”
